With young children at Heartland Elementary School, Alicia understands the importance of quality schools today as well as securing our future.  Alicia is focused on upholding Geneva's reputation as an educational leader in Kane County while also adapting to the changing needs of our student body.  Teachers are required to continue their education and constantly be learning and integrating the newest theories and curriculum into their classrooms.  As a board member, Alicia will adopt this same school of thought into the policies and directives the school board initiates. She is committed to staying up to date on best practices, as well as the changing needs of our community.

This goes hand in hand with Alicia's belief of fostering strong relationships between the community, educators, school personnel, and board members.  When students, teachers, and community members feel that their concerns are heard, it creates positive relationships.  Alicia will strive to be available to community members, listen, and discuss the issues at hand.  She will act with the interests of the community in mind. When all stakeholders collaborate, we can achieve our goals, and continue to uphold our tradition of excellence.

Alicia holds a B.S. from Illinois State University and an M.S. from Eastern Illinois University, both in Family and Consumer Sciences Education.  She was employed as a teacher in District 214 for 5 years.  After the birth of her first child, Alicia left the teaching profession to be a stay at home mom. Two years after the birth of her second child, she began working for an online children's clothing service and part-time at Pure Barre Geneva, a local fitness studio. She also began volunteering at her church, Geneva Lutheran, where she became a member of the Parent's Day Out Board and co-lead the Mom's Group.

Currently, Alicia splits her time between being a mom, teaching fitness classes at Pure Barre Geneva, and continuing to serve in her volunteer positions at her church.

Alicia and her husband Jason (GHS Class of '99) moved from Batavia to Geneva in 2013 because of their desire for their children to receive the same quality education that Jason received. They currently live in the Mill Creek subdivision with their daughters Lila and Elena, and their Golden Retriever, Murphy.

Plain and simple, I do not support raising taxes.  As residents of Illinois, sky-rocketing taxes are not unique to Geneva, this is a state-wide issue.  Our district has maintained an excellent level of fiscal responsibility in years past; this is something that needs to be maintained.  I am committed to examining all sides of the issue when finances are involved and making the best decision for all stakeholders.

I taught in a high school for 5 years and I will bring a unique perspective to the board.  I promise to consider every aspect of an issue and make decisions with the best interests of every student in mind.  I am a good listener and natural born leader.  I am honest, I will collaborate with all stakeholders, and I am confident voicing my opinions.

Being elected to the Geneva School Board would be an immense honor.  When you vote for me, you are putting your faith in me to represent you and do what is right and fair.  I want to be a voice for the community. Please utilize the form below to share your thoughts, concerns, or ask questions.

Ask Alicia a question, suggest a video topic, request a yard sign, or host a meet and greet. She wants to hear from you!
